The Expert SQL Server Developer Class has a dedicated module on In-Memory OLTP. The course is relevant to SQL 2005, 2008, 2008R2, 2012, 2014 and 2016.

Prerequisites

The course requires attendees to have at least 6 months of experience in T-SQL.

Modules

Day 1

Analyzing Execution Plan
In this module, you’ll learn to read and analyze graphical and XML execution plan.

Subqueries, Joins and Set Operations
In this module, you’ll learn to write Subqueries, Joins and Set Operations to solve complex real-time business problems. You’ll also learn to use TOP, OFFSET/FETCH and APPLY operator to optimize queries.

Day 2

Windowing, Aggregating and Pivoting
In this module, you’ll learn about different window and analytic functions available in TSQL. You’ll also learn to aggregate, pivot and unpivot optimally.

Temporary Tables, Table Variables and Common Table Expressions (CTE)
In this module, you’ll learn about temporary tables, table variables and CTEs. You’ll also learn to optimize queries using temporary tables/table variables/CTEs. The module will also talk about the differences between them and when to use temporary tables/table variables/CTEs.

Day 3

Programmable Objects
In this module, you’ll learn to write and optimize Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers, Dynamic SQL. The module will also talk about Transaction & Concurrency and Error Handling.

DML Queries
In this module, you’ll learn about Inserting, Updating, Deleting and Merging data. The module will also talk about optimizing DML operations.

Working with NULLS
NULLS refer to unknown. There are certain things to keep in mind when working with a column having NULL values. In this module, you’ll learn different ways to handle NULL values including the new SPARSE datatype.

Day 4

Working with Date and Time
In this module, you’ll learn how to efficiently use the Datetime functions in SQL Server and how to solve different datetime query problems.

Working with XML & Json
In this module, you’ll learn how to parse XML & Json input using T-SQL and to output the query result in XML or Json format.

In-Memory OLTP
In this module, you’ll learn about In-Memory Architecture, Supported Datatypes, Accessing Memory optimized tables, natively compiled stored procedures and transaction logic.
